Dhanbad, April 15: Shahid Nirmal Mahto Medical College Hospital (SNMMCH) Dhanbad rejected the admission of a candidate in the first round of MBBS admissions, owing to a wrong certificate. But strangely, the Jharkhand Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board (JCECEB) sent his name in the second round again.
A boy candidate of Giridih district appeared for admission on the reserved seat of physical disabilities of the JCECEB in the first round of admission (March 4 to 7). The medical college authority, however, rejected the admission as his residential certificate was found to have incorrect information.
The residential certificate of the boy issued by the SDM said that he was the ‘daughter’ of a particular person, not his son.
The JCECEB again sent his name for admission in the second round at SNMMCH. The candidate came with a certificate of hearing disabilities. But this time, reportedly, his Aadhar card was found tampered with. Sources said that the candidate had allegedly rewritten the number after omitting the previous one using a whitener. On this, the SNMMCH authority rejected the Aadhar card and sent him back for the second time.
The authority did not take any risk as the matter of two doctors of the same name Dr Rambabu Prasad have appeared. Even their registration number and father’s name are the same. One is a senior resident at Hazaribagh Medical College while another is a PG student of Muzaffarpur Medical College. In this situation, only an Aadhar number can check the forgery.
SNMMCH principal Dr Jyoti Ranjan Prasad and admission in-charge Prof (Dr) Ganesh Kumar when contacted on the issue neither confirmed the incident nor rejected it. However, they said seats reserved for disabled candidates are still vacant.
However, a senior official of the health department said the JCECEB sends the list of candidates to medical colleges based on ranks released by the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET). Since the form was filed online to NEET, not a single certificate was sent to the JCECEB by the candidates. So, the JCECEB has no idea of the certificates of the candidates.
Officials said that the college authority duly sends the reason for any candidate’s rejection to the JCECEB. Notwithstanding, the JCECEB sent the name of the candidate again which is strange.
A senior faculty member of SNMMCH said that all candidates for the first MBBS professional are selected by NEET but the disabilities certificate criteria are different from the All India quota and the JCECEB.
