Medica Ranchi to organize Walkathon to create awareness about cancer on Sunday

Ranchi, Nov.4: Bhagwan Mahavir Medica Superspecialty Hospital is organizing a Walkathon on Sunday, at Morabadi Ground with the objective of spreading awareness about cancer in order to celebrate World Cancer Day.

Apart from this, cancer screening camp will be organized in Medica Hospital premises from Monday, 7th November to 21st November, 2022 in which oncologists will give free consultation and 50% discount will be given on the diagnostic facilities available in Medica Hospital.

AVP of Bhagwan Mahaveer Medica Anil Kumar said that the walkathon, organized on the initiative of Medica Oncology, will start at 7.30 am on Sunday from the stage near Morabadi Stadium. All the doctors, nurses, support staff, paramedics and management officials associated with Medica Ranchi will participate in the walkathon.

Five other organizations from the state have also agreed to participate in the walkathon. Chief guest DIG Anish Gupta (IPS) and special guest SSP Ranchi Kaushal Kishor (IPS), will flag off the walkathon. The walkathon will start from Morabadi and will end near the stadium after passing through passing Karmatoli Chowk.

Local in-charge of Medica Oncology Dr. Gunjesh Kumar Singh said that the theme of World Cancer Day 2022 is ‘Close the Care Gap’. Since cancer is the second leading cause of death globally, the event aims to prevent large numbers of deaths each year by increasing cancer awareness and education. Cancer, he said, can occur at any age and if it is not detected at the right time and if not treated it can increase the risk of death.

Medical Director of Medica Ranchi, Dr. Vijay Kumar Mishra informed that a cancer screening camp is being organized in Medica Hospital premises from Monday, November 7 to November 21, 2022, in which oncologists will be available for free consultation. Apart from this, 50% discount will be available on the testing facilities available in Medica Hospital.
