Meerut: Five Kanwariyas die after falling into clutches of high-tension wire, several scorched

Lucknow, July 16: The news of a major accident has come from Meerut in Uttar Pradesh. During the Kanwar Yatra on Saturday night, Kanwariyas came under the grip of a high-tension line in the Bhavanpur police station area, in which five have been reported dead. Many were badly burnt. The police immediately took the scorched people to the hospital, where their condition remains critical.

According to the information, the Kanwariyas named Vishal, Ajay, Abhishek, Manish, Yogesh, Rohtash, Pradeep, Anuj, Vineet, Mahendra, Mohit, Prince, Himanshu, Suraj and Sachin had gone to collect the Kanwar. These people were returning to Shivalaya on Saturday with Kanwar. In this sequence, the DJ running along with Kanwar came under the grip of a high tension line. Along with this, the Kanwariyas also got scorched badly due to electrocution. Seeing this, there was a hue and cry among the Kanwariyas.

As soon as the news was received, with the help of the people, the police sent the scorched people to the hospital in 108 ambulances, where five were declared dead. As soon as the information about the accident was received, the police of many police stations reached the spot. According to information, Mahendra, Pappu, Himanshu, Bhagirath died as they were scorched. All of them were residents of Ral Chauhan of the Bhavanpur police station area.

After this incident, the Kanwariyas blocked the road in the area. The officers reached the spot and explained to the people, there is chaos among the relatives of the Kanwariyas. District Magistrate of Meerut Deepak Meena informed that the incident took place in Rali Chauhan village of Bhawanpur in Meerut. In this sequence, the frame of his DJ came in contact with an 11 KV electric wire due to which many Kanwarias got electrocuted. All were admitted to the hospital, where five people died.
