Jamshedpur, Sept 6: A mass vaccination drive organised by East Singhbhum district administration jointly with the health department kicked off at the Keenan Stadium in Bistupur on Monday.
The mass vaccination drive which was inaugurated by East Singhbhum deputy commissioner Suraj Kumar will continue for five days.
Every day the jab drive will start at 3 pm and continue till 10 pm. Officials said the timing has been kept such for the convenience of people.
Dhalbhum SDO Sandeep Kumar Meena who is looking after the preparations said they have set a target of 5,000 jabs daily.
As many as 20 vaccination points have been set up at the venue for administering Covishield and Covaxin doses.
The first day saw a huge rush of people – young and elderly.
According to health department officials, during the mass drive vaccines would be provided for the age group of 18 to 44 years and above.
” Vaccination would be provided through walk-in mode, ” said a health official adding that a person seeking a vaccine will have to produce his or her Aadhaar Card.
Necessary training has been given to the health department staff and computer operators for smooth vaccination during vaccination drive.
Meanwhile, the East Singhbhum health department is also continuing with Covid vaccinations and tests in various other centres – both in rural and urban areas.
