Indore: In the sensational Meghalaya honeymoon murder case, investigators are now leaning towards the theory that Sonam Raghuvanshi was the actual mastermind behind the crime, while her alleged lover Raj Kushwaha may have been just a pawn. Senior police officials monitoring the interrogation believe Sonam manipulated each accomplice, using emotional and financial lures to orchestrate the murder plot.
Raj Used as Pawn in a Bigger Scheme
Investigators suggest that contrary to initial assumptions where Raj was seen as the chief conspirator, he might have been duped into assisting Sonam’s escape. They suspect Sonam planned to elope with someone else, and Raj unknowingly facilitated her disappearance. Evidence indicates that Raj even paid a cab driver who dropped Sonam in Uttar Pradesh on June 6.
Sonam’s Hidden Stay in Indore
Crime branch officials revealed that Sonam had carefully premeditated her hideout, securing a flat in Indore where she stayed for days while police and her family searched for her. Strikingly, even her co-accused were unaware of this location. When the plan started to unravel, Sonam allegedly directed Raj to book her a cab to UP, where she was eventually located on June 8.
Ongoing Investigation and Evidence Collection
Indore crime branch officials admitted they are yet to trace the flat Sonam used during her disappearance. Meghalaya police are preparing to bring her back to Indore for evidence verification. Additional DCP Rajesh Dandotiya confirmed, “Meghalaya officials will bring the accused to Indore to collect evidence and Indore police will provide all logistical and technical help. It is expected that Sonam will be brought back.”
