Deoghar, Nov 5: The members of the Federation of Jharkhand Chamber of Commerce and Industries in Deoghar, in a letter to the president and general secretary of the Chamber on Saturday have announced boycotting the re-election for the post of regional vice president of Santal Pargana that is to take place on Sunday.

Almost fifty percent of voters have expressed their anguish and claimed that they are not going to participate in the election to be held on Sunday in Dumka. A press release has also been issued by some members against the decision to hold voting on Sunday.

Talking to Lagatar24 correspondent, the President of Santala Paragana Chamber of Commerce & Industry Alok Malick said that the decision taken by the former election officer to hold re-elections without perusing the electoral procedure is not acceptable to several of the members.

Notably, for the session 2022-23, the elections of the Federation’s executive and regional vice presidents were held on September 10 and 11, 2022. After the process of voting, the counting of the regional vice-president votes was made controversial by the then-election officials Lalit Kediya and Pawan Sharma. They first asked to postpone the result and later published the information and announced the cancellation of the said election using their privilege.

Both the election officials had asked both the candidates to make written objections and both the candidates had sent written protests and sought their answers on many points, to which neither of the election officials had replied.

Now at present, both election officials have given information about re-polling in Dumka between the two candidates of that time in the same cancelled election on Sunday. In light of this information, under the chairmanship of Federation President Kishor Mantri, a virtual meeting of the members of the SAMP was held on November 2, wherein members opposed the idea of re-polling.

He further stated that the election officials had first announced a tie between two candidates and soon announced the cancellation of the election.

Mallick has further assured that if re-election is considered by the federation under the guidance of other election officers except for Lalit Kediya and Pawan Sharma, all members of Deoghar will happily participate. He further raised the question mark on Kediya and Sharma as election officers.

Notably, there was a neck-to-neck tussle between the Sanjit Singh of Deoghar and Pritam of Godda for the post regional Vice president of the Santal Pargana Chamber of Commerce during the elections.
