CONMEBOL, the governing body of South American football, said in a statement that it was not possible to choose just one best player, as there are two such players in the tournament.
Messi scored five goals in six matches besides scoring four goals. Neymar assisted in scoring three goals in addition to scoring two goals in five matches. CONMEBOL’s technical study group said the players had a positive impact on their teams and that all the matches they played in the Copa America were a reflection of South American DNA.
