New Delhi, Dec 15: Following the complaints of long queues, overcrowding and chaos at the Delhi airport, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) will chair a high-level meeting on Thursday.

Union Home Secretary Ajay Kumar Bhalla will chair a high-level meeting on airport rush at the Ministry of Home Affairs at 11 am today.

The meeting will take place at 11 am, North Block. The Civil Aviation Secretary, senior officials of Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL), Director General of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Intelligence Bureau (IB) Chief, Chairman of the Airport Authority of India (AAI), senior officers of Immigration Department, officers of Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) and other officers of MHA will be present at this meeting.

For the past few days, passengers have been posting their grievances regarding the chaotic scenes at the Delhi Airport on Twitter. The pictures of lengthy lines at the security checkpoints have been brought up frequently. Passengers have also complained that they had to wait for two to three hours in the clearance area before the final departure of the flight.

A decision regarding the deployment of an additional 1,200 CISF soldiers at the Delhi airport will probably be made at the meeting today. Currently, more than 5,000 CISF personnel are deployed at the IGI airport, who assist the passengers with security check-ins, anti-terrorism and other core duties. The CISF is in charge of airport security.
