Mumbai: Mihir Shah, the prime suspect in the BMW hit-and-run incident, has been arrested in Shahpur, Maharashtra, after evading capture for three days. The arrest comes after a tragic incident on Sunday morning, where Shah, the son of a Shiv Sena leader, allegedly drove a BMW that struck and killed a woman.
The victim, 45-year-old Kaveri Nakhwa, was riding with her husband Pradeep on Annie Besant Road around 5:30 am when the luxury vehicle collided with their two-wheeler. Kaveri was dragged for 100 meters by the car, resulting in critical injuries. She was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital, while her husband was treated and later discharged.
Following the incident, Mihir Shah went into hiding. The police have since registered a case against his father, Rajesh Shah, and the family driver, Rajendra Singh Bidawat, for aiding his escape. The Dadar Metropolitan Magistrate court has placed Bidawat in police custody until July 11, marking his second remand. Meanwhile, Rajesh Shah was granted bail on Monday.
