Ranchi, July 12: An unidentified assailant killed an octogenarian Kishore Bhagat while he was sleeping inside his house. The incident took place in Ratu, on the outskirts of Jharkhand capital.
A local resident said the incident took place last night but came to the fore this morning after a villager informed the police.
SP (rural) Naushad Alam could not be contacted for his comment on the matter.
Officer-in-charge Abhash Kumar confirmed the incident saying a probe has been started. “So far, it has not been clear how the old man was killed and how.”
A police official said prima facie it appears that someone hit the head of the old man with a heavy object.
