Ranchi, April 27: Two youths stabbed a morning walker near Neta Ji Chowk in Khunti.

The victim was identified as Deepak Sahu. He was first admitted at Sadar Hospital, from where he was referred to Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) for better treatment.

A locality resident said those attacked are Suraj Kumar Gupta and Vinit Kumar Gupta and the reason behind the attack was land dispute.

“Suraj and Deepak were pursuing a case involving a plot. On April 26, the court ordered in favour of Deepak. This irritated Suraj and he made an attack today,” the resident said.

Superintendent of police (SP) of the district Aman Kumar, however, contradicted the fact.

“The incident was the result of a dispute over a fine which the civic body had imposed on the accused for dumping garbage outside their dhaba. Accused was angry thinking Deepak had lodged a complaint against them,” SP Kumar said.

SP Kumar said: “Condition of injured is stable.”
