Daltonganj, April 18: Medinirai Medical College Hospital in Daltonganj is set to get a teacher in the Department of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology (FMT).

This medical college has been running without any teacher of the FMT for the last two years. The MBBS students were made up with digital study materials of the FMT.

Principal in charge of the Medinirai medical college hospital Dr Dharmender Kumar said today, “We are very sanguine to have a teacher this week itself in the department of forensic medicine and toxicology which was without any teacher over the last two years.”

He said, “We understand we may get two teachers of the FMT but one is a guaranteed one. The teacher is a contractual one. It hardly matters. Our MBBS students will be happy to have an FMT teacher now. Our wait will be over soon.”

Sources said it was the additional chief secretary of health Arun Kumar Singh who had to work tirelessly for the FMT teacher to come over to this medical college in Daltonganj.

Principal Dharmender Kumar said, “We have got a technician from Kolkata working right now on the UPS system. Our UPS system was non-functional for long. It could have been damaged by power fluctuation here.”

The shutdown of the UPS system had led to the non-functioning of the audiovisual equipment, each in 4 lecture theatres of this medical college.

Dr Dharmender Kumar said, “Time has changed. Chalk, duster and blackboard are the things of the days gone by. It’s now audio-visual. Once our UPS system gets operational our audiovisual in each of the 4 lecture theatres will be available to our esteemed faculties and the students.”

As the Medical Assessment and Rating Board of the National Medical Commission has approved the permission to renew admission to 100 MBBS students in the session 2023 -24 in this medical college, the anatomy department of this medical college is in dire need of a ‘body’ for the practical purpose of dissection.

Dr Dharmender Kumar went on to say, “We do need a body fast for our anatomy practical classes for the coming batch of 2023 -24. I have written to the medical superintendent to arrange one more  body as the body available to this medical college is in use already.”

Body for anatomy practical classes for the MBBS students must not be any of murder, shoot out, suicide, burnt, train run over, accident body, mutilated and charred body etc. The body has to be in full shape and not disjointed.

Dr Dharmender Kumar is the acting principal in charge since April 1 after the then principal Dr R D Nagesh retired on March 31.
