Monika murder in Hazaribagh: One Mahindra agent arrested, three still absconding

Ramgarh, Sept 20: Roshan Kumar Dev, accused of killing pregnant Monika Kumari (21) by crushing her with a tractor, was arrested from the Mufassil police station area of Hazaribagh district on Monday evening. However, three other accused are still absconding.

Hazaribagh SP Manoj Ratan Chauthe confirmed the arrest. He said that Roshan Kumar Dev of Mahindra Finance is a named accused in the case. His three other associates have also been made accused.

Four people have been made accused in the FIR filed at Ichak police station, case number 172/22 section 302.  The police assured that the other absconding accused would be arrested soon.

Monika, the daughter of a disabled farmer Mithilesh Mehta, resident of Sijua village in Ichak, was murdered by the accused Mahindra Finance loan recovery agent as they crushed her with a tractor.

Mithilesh had purchased the tractor on loan from Mahindra Finance in the year 2018. Due to the non-availability of work during the lockdown, six installments of Rs 14,300 monthly were outstanding which the company had made Rs 1,30,000. The agents reached Sijua to take away the tractor but were stopped by Monika who was then crushed to death by them.
