Jamshedpur, Sept 7 : The monsoon trough which had shifted towards the foothills of the Himalayas got restored thus increasing the possibility of rain at many places across the state today.
Met readings suggested that the monsoon trough at mean sea level was today passing through Ganganagar,
Hissar, Hardoi, Gorakhpur, Patna, Jamshedpur, Digha and thence east-southeastwards to Northeast Bay of Bengal.
The north-south trough was currently running from Chhattisgarh to cyclonic circulation over south interior Karnataka and neighbourhood across Andhra Pradesh at 0.9 Km above mean sea level.
A cyclonic circulation was likely to form over Eeastcentral Bay of Bengal around
September 7.
Under its influence, a low pressure is likely to form over westcentral Bay of Bengal during the subsequent 48 hours.
The forecast for Ranchi today said generally cloudy sky with one or two spells of rain or thundershowers.
Meanwhile , rain statistics suggested that against a normal of 850.5 mm, the state has so far received 633.4 mm, a deficit of 26 per cent.
