Jamshedpur, July 16: IMD’s Ranchi Meteorological Centre issued a forecast of rain at many places across Jharkhand today.
“The monsoon trough is getting revived. This coupled with the low pressure hovering over neighbouring Odisha coast is expected to trigger rain at many places across the state on Saturday,” said a duty officer at the Ranchi Met Centre.
Overcast conditions prevailed in most parts of the state today. Weathermen said the southerly wind pattern and the low pressure over the Bay of Bengal were resulting in heavy moisture incursion into the atmosphere.
Weathermen also did not rule out the possibility of thunder and lightning in isolated pockets of the state on Saturday.
Rain data suggested that against normal rainfall of 336.6 mm Jharkhand has so far received 174 mm resulting in a deficit of 48 percent. All the 24 districts currently figure in the rain losers list.
