Jamshedpur, June 10: The southwest monsoon is expected to arrive in Jharkhand sometime after June 15, said weathermen at IMD’s  Ranchi Meteorological Centre today.

“There is no hope of the arrival of monsoon in Jharkhand at least in the next four days. The monsoon currents are expected to take a surge around June 14. The Northern Limit of Monsoon (NLM) continues to pass through Vengurla, Chikmagalur, Bengaluru, Puducherry and Siliguri.

Conditions would continue to become favourable for further advancement of monsoon into more parts of Maharashtra, entire Karnataka, more parts of Andhra Pradesh and more parts of west-central and northwest Bay of Bengal during the subsequent two days.

Met statistics revealed that light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder occurred at isolated places over the state during the past 24- hours.

The highest rainfall recorded was 32.6 mm at Nandadih in the Giridih district.

Heat wave conditions prevailed at isolated places in the northwest and adjoining central parts of the state.

The highest maximum temperature of  45.1°C was recorded at Daltonganj while the lowest minimum temperature of 24.5°C was recorded at Giridih.

An east-west trough from Southeast Uttar Pradesh to Manipur was running from central parts of south Uttar Pradesh to west Assam across Bihar and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal extending up to 0.9 km above the mean sea level.

A trough was also running from northeast Madhya Pradesh to west-central Bay of Bengal off north Andhra Pradesh coast at 0.9 Km above the mean sea level.
