Ranchi, Feb 8: Over 150 street vendors, who have been forced to shut their shops after the state government imposed Section 144 at Morhabadi ground following the shootout incident last month, will set up their shops after 12 days at the alternate location behind the football stadium today.
On Monday, the Additional Municipal Commissioner had reached Morhabadi, after which the work of cleaning and levelling was completed at the alternate site.
A period of 72 hours was given by the shopkeepers for a relocation because of which there was a lot of pressure on the Ranchi Municipal Corporation to organize the shopkeepers.
In the early hours of Monday, the team of the Municipal Corporation reached Morhabadi and worked to provide an alternative place for the shop.
Bhoomi Pujan was performed by the shopkeepers at the new location. After that, the work of shifting the shops will be started. In the first phase, there is a plan to shift shops up to Bapu Vatika. After that further shops will be considered.
After the gang war in Morhabadi on 27 January 2022, the administration had banned the establishment of shops. After which the shopkeepers here were agitating. The shop has been closed for the last 12 days. After which the shopkeepers were given an alternative place to set up shop on Monday.
This alternate location is given just behind the football stadium. Before setting up the shop, the work of levelling and cleaning was done by the Municipal Corporation using JCB machines.
