Ranchi, May 29: The mortal remains of Indian Army soldier Naik Sandeep Pal, who was martyred in a road accident in Ladakh on Friday, reached Ranchi on Sunday morning. After paying tribute at Ranchi airport, the soldier’s body was sent to his ancestral residence in Hazaribagh.
Sandeep Kumar Paul was recruited in the army in the year 2013.
Seven Indian Army troops were killed and numerous more were injured, after the vehicle they were travelling in went off the road and crashed into the Shyok river in the Turtuk area of Ladakh. The car plummeted to a depth of 50-60 feet.
The troops were first transferred to a field hospital at Partapur, where Army surgical teams were dispatched from Leh. Seven of them have been pronounced dead.
Those dead are Subedar Shinde Vijayrao from Satara, Maharashtra; Naib Subedar Gurudayal Sahu from Betul, Madhya Pradesh; Naik Sandeep Pal from Hazaribagh, Jharkhand; Naik Ramanuj Kumar from Patna, Bihar; Naik Jadhav Prashant Shivaji from Kolhapur, Maharashtra and Lance Naik Bappaditya Khutia from Pashchim Mednipur in West Bengal.
