Jamshedpur, July 15: In a tragic incident, a 65-year-old woman and her 35- year-old daughter were electrocuted at Mosabani in Ghatsila sub-division, about 45 kms away from here on Saturday morning.

The electrocution occurred when the elderly woman identified as Baso Soren was stretching wet clothes on an iron rod in their residential premises.

Having seen the mother entangled in suspected electric-charged iron rod, daughter Malti Soren tried to save her, but she was too clung to her mother’s body, resulting in deaths of both of them on the spot.

The incident has taken place at road No 1 at Police Line in Mosabani at about 6 am today.

After coming to know about the twin electrocution deaths, some people informed the police which immediately informed the local Jharkhand Bijli Vitaran Nigam Ltd (JBVNL) office which supplies power in the locality.  Soon a team of JBVNL officials reached the spot and snapped off the power connection of the house.

A police team which also reached the spot immediately recovered both the bodies and shifted them to Ghatsila sub-divisional hospital for postmortem.

Mosabani thana OC, Ajit Kumar said the JBVNL was not at fault for the electrocution deaths.

“During preliminary investigation we found that the iron rod in question had come in contact with a live electric wire drawn from inside the house. And there was not any snag in the service line drawn to the house from a pole belonging to the JBVNL, ” said Kumar while talking to lagatar24.com.

Baso Soren would reside at the house with her daughter whereas her son works in a private company away in Hyderabad. The police have already informed the son about the tragedy.
