Damoh, Oct 31: An explosion at an illegal firecracker manufacturing facility in Madhya Pradesh’s Damoh district on Tuesday resulted in the deaths of three people and the injury of ten more, an official stated.

The illegal firecracker production facility was located in a residential area close to the city’s Purana Pool neighbourhood.

The cops raced to the scene and started the rescue effort as soon as they learned about the event.

Damoh’s Superintendent of Police Sunil Tiwari stated, “A factory was being operated illegally here in Purana pul area in which firecrackers were being manufactured. On Tuesday, a blast occurred here as a result of which the roof of the building collapsed and some people were buried in its debris. Three persons have died and 10 others sustained injuries in the incident who were undergoing treatment.”

He added that the factory was entirely illicit because licenses were never authorized for the production of fireworks within residential neighbourhoods.

The official added that additional action would be taken in accordance with the magisterial inquiry into the matter that Damoh Collector Mayank Agarwal has ordered.
