MP Geeta Koda raises issue of wage non-payment to HEC workers in parliament

Ranchi, Dec.14: Singbhum MP Geeta Koda raised the issue of non-payment of wage to HEC workers for seven months in the parliament today and demanded immediate payment of their salaries.

Geeta, who is the wife of former chief minister Madhu Koda, while raising the issue said that the 63 year old company is one of the ‘Navratna’ companies of the country which produce different types of equipment for ISRO and atomic energy department besides defence and mining companies. But as many as 1,301 regular and 1,701 contract workers of the company are not being paid their wages for last seven months.

Geeta Koda, a parliamentarian associated with Indian National Congress, said the due to non-payment of their wages workers have hit the road for their demands and thus immediate attention should be paid on their problem to ensure their survival during the Corona pandemic.

The issue was raised a day after HEC management managed to pay salary of just 15 days against seven months to the workers after they went on a 12-days strike.
