Ranchi: A delegation of the Jharkhand State MPW Employees Union met Health Minister Banna Gupta in Ranchi. This happened under the leadership of General Secretary of Jharkhand State Non-Gazetted Employees Federation, Sunil Kumar Sah. A discussion on adjusting the pay hike of the MPW working in the state took place in this meeting.

An agreement to increase the salary to Rs. 20, 500 through a one-time increment has been made until the adjustment of all MPWs working in the state is finalised. The Health minister gave clear orders to the departmental officers present in the meeting that this agreement should be executed within 10 days.

The Multi Purpose Workers (MPWs), who have been demanding an adjustment of pay hike for the last 5 months, have postponed the Satyagraha movement which was to be held on 22nd September. This decision has been taken by the office bearers of the association after getting assurance from the Health Minister. Sujit Kumar of the association said that they have been assured to be provided with the adjustment for all the MPWs. All the problems, wherever and whatever they are, will be resolved soon. Now the MPWs will wait for the government’s next step.

During the Corona transition period, multi-purpose workers have been treating people in various rural and urban areas, including the railway stations and bus stands. On the other hand, they are also protesting for their demands to be heard. In this regard, they have protested many times by putting up black badges, banners, posters etc. Slogans were also raised against the government.

In this regard, the MPWs say that in these crucial times of Covid-19, they cannot leave the public in danger by leaving them untreated but they also won’t stop fighting for their rights.
