Daltonganj, Jan 30: A multi specialty hospital was inaugurated on Sunday at Jorkat in Daltonganj. The idea behind the hospital was given by former minister K N Tripathy. The opening ceremony was attended by several religious heads.

His religious head reverend  Swami Pragyanand was the driving force behind this hospital.

Tripathy in his speech stated that this hospital will be catering to the medical needs of the people like the one in the Ashram. “This hospital is not a commercial unit but a service unit,” he reiterated.

He referred to a hospital in Ranchi which in the Covid pandemic charged 10 lakh for a 10 day treatment in the ICU there. Tripathy said this multi specialty hospital would never be like such a money minting hospital but a pure people serving hospital.

“CCL was the first to donate 88 lakhs under its corporate social responsibility and Jindal and Hindalco had given 10 lakhs each,” he added. While, Rehla based Grasim donated 4 lakhs besides one 8 lakh worth ventilator.

“The CCL had wanted to be assured that its sum would be honestly spent and DC Palamu Shashi Ranjan on behalf of the administration assured that amount would be genuinely spent,” he further added.

The hospital spread over 22,000 sq ft is in the process of addition and expansion. However, there was no information with regard to the beginning of outpatient door service.

“In the critical days of the Covid pandemic we in the administration were looking for opportunities for bringing up more hospitals,” said DC Palamu Shashi Ranjan.

Notably, Dr Nawneet Shekhar of AIIMS Rishikesh will be visiting the hospital on a monthly basis.
