New Delhi, Dec 14: Top CBI officials have been named by the West Bengal Police in the FIR about the death of Birbhum accused Lalan Sheikh while in custody. The main suspect in the Rampurhat bombing that murdered Trinamool Congress leader Bhadu Sheikh and others is Lalan Sheikh. In CBI custody, he was discovered dead on Monday.
Seven CBI officers, including CBI DIG, CBI SP, and others in the Bogtui case—which centres on the key suspect Lalan Sheikh’s inexplicable death while in custody—are named in the FIR. The investigator in the livestock smuggling case is one of the defendants listed in the FIR.
Reshma Bibi, the wife of Sheikh, complained to the Rampurhat Police Station on Tuesday, claiming that CBI agents had threatened to kill her husband during their investigation-related visit to Bogtui hamlet.

The investigation into the death of Lalan Sheikh, the main suspect in the Bogtui massacre, who was discovered hanging by his neck inside the CBI camp’s restroom on Monday evening in Birbhum, has been handed over to the West Bengal CID.
In the Bogtui massacre, which claimed 10 lives in Birbhum in March 2022, Sheikh was the prime suspect.
