Ramgarh, Dec 14: A marathon race was organized at DAV Barkakana under the ‘Fit India’ program to raise health awareness among the youth.

The race started from the school premises and covered a distance of three km passing through the Hanuman temple, Durga Mandap.
A total of 185 participants from classes VIII and IX entered the race, including NCC cadets, both boys and girls.
The School Principal cum Regional Officer, Dr Urmila Singh flagged off the race in the presence of CCL Officer Sanjay Singh.
Addressing the students, the Principal said that fitness is very important for all of us as exercise can have immediate and long-term health benefits, running is one of the most efficient types of exercise. In addition, necessary guidelines for safety were also presented.
In the race, the top five participants from both boy`s and girl’s categories were awarded certificates and medals. The teachers were also present with them all the way to ensure that all the security arrangements were in place. Sports teachers Santosh Kumar Gupta, Kaushal Kishore and Mita Ganguly played a key role in the success of the event.
