New Delhi, March 23: Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said on Thursday that her brother lived telling the truth and would continue to do so after Rahul Gandhi was found guilty in the criminal defamation case brought against him due to his alleged ‘Modi surname statement’.

Rahul will continue to speak up for the country’s citizens, according to Priyanka Gandhi, because of the strength of the truth and the affection of millions of people.

“The entire scared machinery of power is trying to suppress the voice of Rahul Gandhi through ‘saam, daam, dand, bhed’. My brother has never been afraid, nor will he ever be. He has lived speaking the truth, will continue to speak the truth”, tweeted Priyanka Gandhi in Hindi.

Reacting to the order, Congress president and Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge said that the party will fight the judgement as per law.

“He has been granted bail. We knew from the beginning because they kept changing judges. We believe in law, judiciary and we will fight against this as per law,” he said.

Earlier in the day, Surat Court in Gujarat convicted Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, in a 2019 defamation case for his remark ‘all thieves have Modi surname.’ The court sentenced Congress MP to two years of imprisonment.
