New Delhi, Jan 18: The schedule for the assembly elections in Nagaland was released by the Election Commission on Wednesday. On February 27, elections will be held in the northeastern state where the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) is currently in control.
Nagaland’s assembly elections will take place in one phase. Voter registration is scheduled on February 27 and vote counting is scheduled for March 2.
There are 60 seats in Nagaland’s legislative assembly. The NDPP, the BJP, and the Naga People’s Front are members of the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) (NPF).

In Nagaland, the NDPP-BJP coalition that was created before the 2018 elections is still going strong. In Nagaland, there is no opposition. The UDA has 21 NPF MLAs. The NPF won 26 seats in 2018, the NDPP 18, the BJP 12, the NPP 2, the JDU 1, and 1 seat went to an Independent.
Nalin Kohli, the BJP’s state in-charge, claims that the party intends to keep its alliance with the NDPP and may go with the 40:20 seat distribution plan.
