Jharkhand Governor to inaugurate two-day national seminar of IMMA

Dhanbad, Jan 18: Jharkhand Governor Ramesh Bais will inaugurate a two-day national seminar being organised under the centenary celebration of the Indian Mines Managers Association (IMMA) at Koylanagar Community Hall of Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL) from Friday (January 20-21).

Giving this information, the IMMA president KN Singh and general secretary RK Sharma said that Governor Ramesh Bais would be the chief guest while Central Institute of  Mining and Fuel Research (CIMFR) new director  Dr AK Mishra and Eastern Coalfield Limited (ECL) managing director AP Panda would grace the occasion as guests of honour.

On the occasion, the former chairman of CIL PS Bhattacharya would be given the Life Time Achievement Award. Bhattacharya was also chairman and managing director of BCCL and made the sick company a profit-making unit.

The seminar is being jointly organised with Bharat Coking Coal Limited which also completed 50 years of foundation. IMMA has completed its 100 years. The topic of the national seminar is ‘Challenge and Opportunity in Mining Industry’. Over 200 delegates and mining industry experts are likely to participate in the two-day seminar.

“The seminar would be useful for mining managers and engineers as they would learn how to increase safe production and new about new mining techniques being adopted in the industry,” said  KN Singh, president of IMMA to media persons.

IMMA office bears sad mining experts of Coal India Limited (CIL), Steel Authority of India (SAIL), Tata Steel and other institutions would also participate and shed light on new trends in the mining field.
