Hazaribag, Dec 11: Mohammad Samir, a resident of Maharajgunj in Chouparan block, has been shortlisted by NASA under its university research talent competition. A first-year student of electronics and telecommunication at Dayanand Sagar College of Engineering in Bangalore, Samir has designed a low earth orbit satellite which will not only enhance the telecommunication service but also click pictures of Mars.
Samir was working on the satellite named ‘Sam Sat’ for the past year. Getting help from his college in this regard, Samir has provided a budget of Rs10 lakhs to Rs12 lakh to develop the satellite.
Notably, Samir is the son of a small businessman Mohammad Shamshad, who makes seat covers for bikes and cars. Samir has pursued an online software course from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He has also completed an online course on robotics from the University of Pennsylvania.
His relatives in Chouparan have said that now he is preparing to go to the USA on invitation from NASA. Samir has also earned praise for making a remote less drone which can be used to transport medicines and other necessary items in times of emergency.
The relatives and family members further said that during school days, Samir had designed and installed a four-foot-high mobile tower on his rooftop which ensured a proper mobile network in the house.
