Dhanbad, June 17: For the first time brushing aside the factional feud, the senior leaders of Congress on Friday held a massive demonstration and sat on a dharna at Randhir Verma Chowk near the Collectorate in protest of the Enforcement Directorate’s ‘summon’ and interrogation to party national president Sonia Gandhi and former president Rahul Gandhi in a ‘false case.’

Congress district president Brajendra Prasad Singh on the occasion charged that Narendra Modi’s government using ED against Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi in the name of ‘National Herald’ to confuse people and divert the attention of the nation from his failure to handle major issues.

“People and Congress party feel that it is a political vendetta. After being frightened by the rising popularity of Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, the BJP government has initiated a step to stop them. ‘National Herald’ is a symbol of the freedom struggle and tradition of the Congress Party. Congress is trying to keep the newspapers alive so that it remains to be the voice of people,” said president Singh.

Congress State Working President Jaleshwar Mahto, District Working President Ravindra Verma, senior leaders Madan  Mahto, Shamsher Alam, Mukhtar Khan and many others also addressed the dharna rally.

Jaleshwar Mahto alleged that nation has plunged into a major crisis due to the failure of the Modi government on all fronts.

“Central government is using ED, CBI and Income Tax against opposition leaders making Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi to cover its failure,” said Jaleshwar Mahto.

District working president Ravindra Verma on the occasion announced that party workers would not stop until the central government stopped vendetta politics against party president Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi. He said truth has always emerged the winner and in the ‘National Herald’ issue truth would prevail.
