Jamshedpur, Jan 25: Security has been put on high alert across Kolhan in view of Republic Day celebrations amid intermittent IED blasts taking place in parts of the West Singhbhum district.
Keeping the sporadic triggering of IED blasts in parts of West Singhbhum district, the police have made elaborate security arrangements in the twin districts of Singhbhum and also in the Seraikela-Kharsawan district to ensure a hassle-free Republic Day celebrations across the Kolhan.
Revealing the preparations, Kolhan deputy inspector general (DIG) Ajay Linda said that an adequate number of police and paramilitary forces have been deployed at the strategic locations across the Kolhan, especially in the West Singhbhum and Seraikela-Kharsawan districts in view of peaceful celebrations of the Republic Day tomorrow.
“We have not only put the police and the paramilitary forces on alert in these three districts but are also providing logistic support to the railway police for ensuring smooth and incident-free train communication across Kolhan,” said the Kolhan DIG while talking to lagatar24.com.
Linda said they are giving more emphasis on West Singhbhum and Seraikela-Kharsawan districts because the Naxals may resort to subversive activities out of frustration in these two districts.
“The CPI-Maoist rebels are now fighting for the last time by using the forest covers in certain places in the West Singhbhum. As the Naxals are apprehending their elimination is imminent, in such a situation they may turn out to be more violent out of frustration by emerging out of the forest covers during the Republic Day,” said the senior police officer.
He pointed out that the CPI-Maoists no longer adhered to their ideology and now out of frustration they are targeting innocent villagers beside the police and paramilitary forces by triggering IED blasts.
“Presently, the police and paramilitary forces have surrounded a big squad of Naxals in the forests falling under Tonto, Goelkera and, Chaibasa mufassil thana area at a circumference of 250 km. The paramilitary forces will not move away until all the Naxals hiding there either are killed or surrender before us,” said Linda.
