Jamshedpur, March 31: A squad of CPI-Maoist rebels has decamped with explosives and detonators from a godown at Parambal jungle under Kiriburu thana area in West Singhbhum district about 120 kms away from here in the wee hours on Friday.
The godown belongs to a private firm, DK Ghosh and Company, which uses to supply explosives for mining activities in the region.
The naxals had swooped over the godown at around 1 am today and decamped with an unspecified number of explosives and detonators after taking the guard under control.
Sources revealed that the guard posted at the firm a resident of the Parambal village had informed the firm’s management this morning about the incident, leading the management to inform it to the police. The sources pointed out that the bulk of the explosives’ stock was kept at another godown in the same jungle, thus it was saved from being looted.
West Singhbhum police superintendent, Ashutosh Shekhar confirmed about the loot of explosives by the naxals, but could not give any details of the incident.
“A police party has rushed to the Parambal jungle to find out the extent of explosives detonators looted by the naxals. We will be able to speak in detail after only getting feedback from the police party,” said Ashutosh Shekhar while talking to lagatar24.com.
