Mumbai, July 13: The nation’s anti-drugs bureau has accused actress Rhea Chakraborty of purchasing drugs for her late actor partner Sushant Singh Rajput, who passed away in 2020.
She and 34 other people are implicated in the well-known case, according to a chargesheet submitted by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB). Chakraborty is accused of funding the purchase of a minor amount of marijuana. Showik Chakraborty, her brother, is also listed as a defendant.
According to the NCB, she gave Sushant Singh marijuana after receiving it. They said that she paid for it at his request as well.
Rhea Chakraborty could spend more than ten years in prison if found guilty. The accusations against her have been dubbed a “witch-hunt” by the actress.
In the case, Chakraborty was detained in September 2020. Nearly a month after her arrest, the Bombay High Court granted her bail.
Following the passing of actor Sushant Singh, who was discovered dead in his flat in the Bandra district on June 14, 2020, the NCB opened an investigation into drug use in Bollywood and the television business. The police had ruled his death a suicide, but the CBI is looking into it.
