Ranchi, May 7: Chairman of the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) Priyank Kanoongo today expressed his concern over irregularities in the functioning of children’s homes in Jharkhand.
He, through a tweet, informed that the unapproved children’s home, from where an incident of sexual exploitation with a girl child was reported last year, is still running and the state government is granting funds to the home.
Kanoongo said no one was arrested in the case of social exploitation. The accused is the son of the operator of the children’s home. He informed that he inspected the children’s home today and noticed that as many as 10 girls are still staying there.
“Aaj ranchi mein ek Balgrihg nirikshan kiya, ek saal pahle bachhi ke yaun shoshan ka mamla darz hua tha, aaropi gair anumodit sthan par chal rahe balgrih sanchalak ka putra hai, giraftari nahi huyi. Na home band hua, abhi bhi 10 bacchiyan rah rahi hai. Jharkhand sarkar paisa bhi de rahi hai. Gazab Andher hai,” Kanoongo’s tweet reads.

Kanoongo, however, did not share any specific information in the tweet. He also did not take the call given to know the specific details.
A person close to the children’s home said Kanoongo inspected Diya Seva Sansthan in Bariatu. A 13-yr-old girl from Loharaga had registered a complaint against the home on February 15, 2021, at Bariatu police station alleging that the younger son of Sita Swansi, the manager of the children’s home, exploited her and she did not want to go there again.
