Ranchi, Aug 30: The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has taken suo moto cognizance of the Ankita Singh murder case. The village will shortly be visited by an NCPCR team to investigate the matter.
“The victim, who was burnt to death by pouring petrol in Dumka district of Jharkhand, has been reported to be a minor. NCPCR Will check after reaching Dumka,” tweeted Priyank Kanoongo Chairperson of NCPCR.

Earlier, the Jharkhand High Court also took suo moto cognizance of the matter.
Notably, the incident happened on August 23 in Dumka town when the suspect doused the woman in petrol from outside the window of her bedroom while she was asleep, setting her ablaze.
The victim, a 12th-grade student, was initially brought into Dumka’s Phulo Jhano Medical College and Hospital in critical condition with 90% burns. Later, she was advised to seek better care at Ranchi’s Rajendra Institute of Medical Science (RIMS).
