Ranchi, July 12: The National Commission for Protection of Child Right (NCPCR) has taken cognizance of the incident in which a St. Xavier’s School class X girl committed suicide after having been humiliated by a teacher for wearing a ‘Bindi’ on her forehead.

Child rights body’s chairman Priyank Kanoongo informed this to Lagatar24.com sharing his tweet in this matter. The tweet read that he will soon be visiting the school in Dhanbad to probe the matter at his level.

Earlier, an FIR was registered in this connection at Tetulmari police station of the district. Police arrested the accused teacher Sindhu Jha and headmaster R.K. Singh.

According to the FIR, the girl student had gone to school wearing a ‘bindi’ on her forehead on Monday. This angered her teacher, who slapped her. According to the girl’s mother, when the matter was communicated to the headmaster, he called the allegation baseless and expelled the girl from school instead of taking action against the teacher. On reaching home, the girl committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling fan.
