New Delhi, Oct.27: The Supreme Court of India has postponed the hearing of the National Testing Agency’s (NTA) appeal against the Bombay High Court’s order to conduct a new NEET exam for two students till tomorrow. The case has been adjourned due to a special bench hearing planned at 2 p.m. today.

Education Ministry’s NTA had petitioned the Supreme Court, claiming that results for over 16 lakh students were ready but couldn’t be declared since the Bombay High Court had ordered re-examination for two applicants. According to the NTA, this will have an impact on the undergraduate medical admissions process.

In the undergraduate medical entrance exam, Vaishanavi Bhopali and Abhishek Shivaji filed a suit in Bombay High Court, alleging that they were given question papers and answer sheets with different serial numbers.

The NTA stated that it was impossible to reschedule exams for two students, but the HC panel ruled that the petitioners should not bear the brunt of the respondents’ mistakes.
