Ranchi, June 3: A new flight for Mumbai is expected from Birsa Munda Airport in Ranchi from June 10.
Airport officials informed the Birsa Munda Airport advisory committee on Friday a direct flight service for Bengaluru and Hyderabad will be started from July.
Prior to this, an airport official informed the committee that Indigo will start a new flight service from June 10 for Mumbai. According to them, as many as 240 passengers can go Mumbai from Ranchi at a time after service of the new flight starts.
The airport official also informed the committee that Jet Airways is also intentional to start its flight service and seeking the possibility for the same. Very soon flight service will be started from Bokaro and Dumka, the official said.
Ranchi MP Sanjay Seth was present in the meeting in the capacity of committee co-chairman.
The achievements recounted by airport officials, included construction of turning pads at both ends of the runway for Boeing 777 and beginning of operation of Instrument Landing System (ILS). They also mentioned the works in progress, saying a new control tower to be made operational soon, CAT-II Lighting work, which is in progress, will help increase visibility distance to 1300 meters from 850 meters. The airport officials said work on cargo cold storage and DVOR work is also in progress.
