New Delhi, June 5: A new cabinet will take oath on Sunday in Odisha, after all ministers in the Naveen Patnaik-led BJD ministry quit the day before to allow the chief minister to rearrange his cabinet.
According to the sources Patnaik, who recently finished 23 years in service, appears to want to give his ministry a fresh appearance before the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in 2024. This is the first time in Odisha’s political history that all ministers have been ordered to resign.
More than six of the 20 ministers who resigned, according to sources in the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD), are likely to be eliminated from the new government.
Governor Ganeshi Lal has been notified of the oath-taking ceremony, which will take place in the state secretariat, the Lok Seva Bhavan, on Sunday, June 5.
