Colombo, April 5: Newly-appointed FM of Sri Lanka, Ali Sabry resigns from his post on Tuesday, a day after being sworn in.
“I hereby tender my resignation from the post of Minister of Finance with immediate effect,” Sabry said in a letter to the president.
“After much reflection and deliberation and taking into consideration the current situation I’m now of the view, for your Excellency to make suitable interim arrangement to navigate this unprecedented crisis,” reads the letter.
After dissolving his cabinet and removing his brother, Basil Rajapaksa, who previously served as finance minister, President Gotabaya Rajapaksa nominated Sabry on Monday.
