New Delhi, Sept 27: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) detained a number of suspects as part of a huge multi-state crackdown at 53 locations targeting the terrorists-gangsters-drug smugglers’ nexus, which is linked to Arsh Dalla, a ‘listed terrorist’, and numerous feared gangsters.

In addition to Arsh Dalla, other notorious gangsters who were being investigated by the NIA during these raids included Lawrence Bishnoi, Sukha Duneke, Harry Maur, Narender alias Lali, Kala Jatheri, and Deepak Tinu.

During the operations conducted across six states, including Punjab, Delhi, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, and the Union Territory of Chandigarh, authorities confiscated pistols, ammunition, a significant quantity of digital devices and incriminating material.

The raids were carried out at various locations, including districts such as Amritsar, Moga, Fazilka, Ludhiana, Mohali, Faridkot, Barnala, Bhatinda, Ferozpur, SAS Nagar, Amritsar, and Jalandhar in Punjab; Rohtak, Sirsa, Fatehabad, and Faridabad in Haryana; Sri Ganga Nagar, Jhunjhunu, Hanumangarh, and Jodhpur in Rajasthan; Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh; Dehradun and Udhamsingh Nagar in Uttarakhand; as well as the South-east district of Delhi, the National Capital Region (NCR), and the Union Territory of Chandigarh.

The day-long operation, which began early today morning, included raids at 53 different sites and state police forces reportedly supplied the required support and assistance, NIA said.

Following the filing of five cases since August 2022, including the two new cases against organized criminal gangs in July 2023, these were the seventh in a series of such crackdowns that the NIA had initiated.

The cases involve schemes involving targeted assassinations, the financing of pro-Khalistan groups, extortion, and more, led by criminal elements, a significant number of whom are either incarcerated in different prisons or are conducting operations from various overseas locations, such as Pakistan, Canada, Malaysia, Portugal, and Australia.
