Ranchi, May 29: A National Investigation Agency (NIA) team today took PLFI chief Dinesh Gope to Khunti forest to recover the arms and ammunition the extremist organization chief had hidden.

Though there is no information of recovery of arms and ammunition so far today, the agency expects a huge recovery.

“Gope said that he had hidden the arms and ammunition in Rania but expressed his inability to remember the exact location. Now he is with the NIA team there is every possibility that he will remember the exact location and arms and ammunition will be recovered. Earlier, on the information of Gope, the NIA recovered 1245 bullets of 7.62 mm and 271 bullets of 5.56 mm from Kamdara forest in Gumla,” a police official assisting NIA at Khunti said.

The NIA had arrested Dinesh Gope from Bhutan on May 21. There were 102 criminal cases against him. He carries a reward of Rs 30 lakh on him. He is currently in the custody of the NIA.  The probe agency had earlier filed a charge sheet against him in a case related to recovery of demonetised currency of Rs 25.38 lakh.

Earlier known as Jharkhand Liberation Tigers (JLT), the PLFI is responsible for hundreds of criminal incidents in Jharkhand, including several murders, according to an NIA investigation. The PLFI organization used to lure unemployed youths by providing motor bikes, mobile phones and easy money. Extortion is the main source of PLFI’s income.
