New Delhi, April 18: National Investigation Agency (NIA) will look into the demonstrations and attempted vandalism of the Indian High Commission in London last month, stated the officials on Tuesday.
The NIA will take up the case from the special cell of the Delhi Police, which had filed a complaint under the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act because it involves illegal acts carried out by some individuals with Indian nationality overseas.
Following changes to the statute governing the anti-terror investigation organisation in 2019, officials claim that the NIA is required to investigate any terror case that occurs in a foreign country.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has been instructed by the Ministry of Home Affairs to open a new investigation into the March 19 attack on the Indian High Commission in London by pro-Khalistan demonstrators.
