Jamshedpur, Sept 14: The ninth edition of Johar Haat, a weeklong exhibition organised by Tata Steel Foundation began today.

The exhibition organised at Prakriti Vihar in Kadma will witness the participation of 21 entrepreneurs from Jharkhand, Odisha and West Bengal representing over five tribes.

This month, the exhibition is based on the theme of “Karma Puja”.

Karma is a tribal festival celebrated in the month of August and September during harvest.

The festival is held on the 11th day of a full moon (Purnima) of the Hindu month of Bhado (Bhadra).

In this festival many tribes of Jharkhand worship ‘Karam Devta’, the God of power, youth, and youthfulness.

During the exhibition, several workshops on Paitkar painting, Saura painting, and Seed jewellery making will also be organised.

Johar Haat was conceptualised to create a dedicated space for exhibiting the art, craft, cuisine, and culture of tribes across India through a week-long exhibition every month.

The first edition of Johar Haat was organised in January this year.
