New Delhi, March 24: Nirmala Sitharaman, the Union Finance Minister, will introduce the Finance Bill 2023 on Friday to put the Central government’s financial plans into action. The demand for grants was passed in Parliament on the previous day.

The Lok Sabha had already approved requests for grants on Thursday, approving almost Rs 45 lakh crore in the spending year 2023–2024. Despite protests from opposition members over their demand for a JPC investigation into the Adani issue, the motion was approved by voice vote. The central government’s proposed budgetary changes for the fiscal years 2023–2024 are made official by the Finance Bill 2023 and would be taken into consideration.

After two earlier adjournments, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla requested the Guillotine when the House reconvened at 6 p.m.

Due to the ongoing gridlock, the two Houses of Parliament have been adjourned numerous times. As the BJP has been pressing Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to retract his comments made in the UK, the opposition has been calling for a Joint Parliamentary Committee investigation into the Hindenburg-Adani controversy.

The Bill to authorize payment and appropriation of certain sums from and out of the Consolidated Fund of India for the Services of the Financial Year 2023–24 was moved for House passage amidst a commotion by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. The House later adjourned for the day after it was passed amid the commotion.

On February 1, the Union Budget was presented by the Finance Minister.
