Jamshedpur, July 4: NIT Jamshedpur in association with Technology Information, Forecasting and Assessment Council (TIFAC) organised a special brainstorming session on its Camus for reducing carbon emissions
Eminent people from academia and research institutes took part in the brainstorming session which took place in respect of four industries of steel and industry related to cement.
These industries are responsible for the production of most of the greenhouse gases. From this brainstorming session, technology needs have to be identified and possible solutions have to be found to enhance India’s impact on climate change.
Technical points were discussed during the brainstorming session on the topic “Technology needs assessment for decarburizing hard-to-abate sectors”.
Wherein guests and dignitaries from TIFAC, Tata Steel, JSW, SAIL, start-ups and other steel industries presented their views.
The chief guest Prof. Pradeep Srivastava, Executive Director, TIFAC, New Delhi and other senior scientists of TIFAC attended the session.
The session, chaired by Professor Gautam Sutradhar, Director, NIT Jamshedpur, started with a focus on understanding the need for technology for net neutrality by decarbonization of steel sectors to make India a clean nation.
Technology plays a key role in driving decarbonization efforts in these areas. A technology need assessment for decarbonizing hard-to-abate areas involves evaluating the current state of technology, identifying constraints and determining the technological solutions needed to effectively reduce carbon emissions, explained the speakers.
