Patna, Aug 10: Nitish Kumar will take the oath of office as the chief minister of Bihar for eighth time on Wednesday, after leaving his old ally BJP to leave the NDA and join the Mahagathbandhan.
In order to create a new administration in Bihar, Nitish Kumar announced his resignation to Governor Phagu Chauhan on Tuesday. He also provided a list of 164 MLAs and claimed the backing of seven parties.
Meanwhile, Tejashwi Yadav is also likely to take oath as Deputy Chief Minister. According to a tweet by RJD, the swearing-in ceremony will be held at 2 pm at Raj Bhavan.
“The swearing-in ceremony of Honorable Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister will be held tomorrow at 2 pm at Raj Bhavan,” reads the tweet.
Although the RJD tweet did not mention any names, it is commonly believed that Tejashwi Yadav will serve as Nitish Kumar’s deputy and that Nitish Kumar would serve as the chief minister.
In a day of rapid-fire political developments, Nitish Kumar, the chief minister of Bihar, met with governor Phagu Chauhan twice: once to submit his resignation as chief minister of the NDA, and again after being chosen as the head of the RJD-led ‘Mahagathbandhan’ (grand alliance), to stake a new claim for the position of governor of the state.
Notably, it will be the eighth time when Nitish Kumar will be sworn in as Chief Minister of Bihar.
