Ranchi, July 26: Suspended IAS of Jharkhand Pooja Singhal, who is currently in jail in connection with the MNREGA scam case, will have to wait for bail.
Singhal still did not get bail as of today. The next bail hearing will now take place on August 3. The development took place as ED sought time to file papers.
Earlier, during the hearing of July 19, the ED court had directed the Enforcement Directorate had taken cognizance against Pooja Singhal’s husband and Pulse Hospital owner Abhishek Jha, CA Suman Kumar, JE Ram Vinod Singh, Rajendra Jain, Jai Kishore Chaudhary and Shashi Prakash. The special court of ED has also issued summons against them. They are also expected to appear on August 3.
The Enforcement Directorate has filed a 200-page charge sheet in the court against Singhal. It has been stated in the charge sheet that while holding the post of deputy commissioner in Chatra, Khunti and Palamu districts, the senior IAS earned Rs 1.43 crore more than her salary.
On May 6, the ED had raided as many as 25 locations of Singhal including the hospital of her husband Abhishek Jha and the residence of her husband’s chartered accountant Suman Singh.
On May 11, ED arrested Singhal and since May 25 she has been behind bars.
