New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said Operation Sindoor demonstrated India’s zero-tolerance approach to terrorism, declaring that no terrorist hideout is safe. Addressing a centenary celebration of the 1925 meeting between spiritual reformer Sree Narayana Guru and Mahatma Gandhi, Modi stressed that India acts decisively in the national interest, including through precision military responses.

Operation Sindoor and defence self-reliance

Without naming Pakistan, PM Modi said that Indian-made weapons used in the operation brought the enemy “to its knees” in just 22 minutes. He underlined the shift toward defence self-reliance, noting that India is steadily reducing its dependency on foreign arms and becoming aatmanirbhar. Modi said this military capability, coupled with swift decisions, proves India’s resolve in countering cross-border terrorism, especially after the brutal Pahalgam terror attack in April that killed 26 civilians.

Empowering the poor through reforms

PM Modi also used the platform to highlight his government’s social initiatives, pointing out that schemes in housing, drinking water, and health have transformed lives. He cited the opening of more IITs, IIMs, and AIIMS in the last 11 years than ever before, and claimed India is now on track to become the world’s third-largest economy. Emphasizing the “saturation approach” in policy delivery, he said this method is eliminating discrimination and ensuring inclusion, especially for backward communities.

Legacy of Narayana Guru and global vision

Reinforcing his alignment with Narayana Guru’s vision of social equality, Modi said the guru’s philosophy inspired global campaigns like “One Earth, One Health” and “One Sun, One World, One Grid.” He recalled that during the 2013 Kedarnath tragedy, the Sivagiri Math reached out to him—not the central government—for help, reflecting the trust reposed in him. Modi said this spiritual legacy motivates his reforms in education, healthcare, and international diplomacy, blending ancient ideals with modern policy goals.
