Ranchi, Nov.12: Carrying a reward of Rs one crore on his head, senior Maoist leader Prashant Bose (93), was today arrested from Kandra Chowk Road in Saraikela district.

He was arrested when he was returning from Parasnath. He was being accompanied by his wife Sheela Marandi when he was arrested. Police also arrested his wife.

Though official confirmation of arrest is yet to come, police sources said the arrest took place on the basis of input from the intelligence bureau, and thus at the time of this arrest apart from police an IB team was also present.

He along with his wife has been kept somewhere in the Jharkhand capital for questioning, police sources said.

Bose, whose native village is Yadavpur in West Bengal, is a politburo member of the CPI(Maoist) and secretary of Jharkhand, Odisha, West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra. Except for Bihar, the governments of all states have declared the reward on his head.

After a heart attack three years ago, he was kept at a safe place in Saranda forest. He was not able to walk properly.
